  Description:
Abstract: This image was derived from the USGS Topo PDF quadrangle series. It was extracted from the original PDF digital file and edited for display with digital geologic data developed by Maryland Geological Survey.
Purpose: This image is serves as a graphical base map for display with GIS data. Its purpose is to give the user visual cues for the general location of overlaid geologic map features. No other purpose is implied.
    Supplemental_Information:
Please refer to the original USGS metadata file for this image:PA_Mason_and_Dixon_20110624_TM_geo.xml .
This image map depicts geographic features on the surface of the earth. It was created to provide a representation of accessible geospatial data which is readily available to enhance the capability of Federal, State, and local emergency responders for homeland security efforts. This image map is generated from selected National Map data holdings and other cartographic data (from USGS metadata for the original PDF document from which this image was derived).

  Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report: Metadata for the USGS US Topo map series is available from the US Topo Quadrangle web site (http://nationalmap.gov/ustopo/). Cartographic content is derived from USGS national geospatial databases. The data is owned and hosted by the USGS, but does not preclude using data sources owned and hosted by other organizations, provided that these sources have been approved by the USGS data program.
Logical_Consistency_Report: This image was derived from a published PDF image file. Metadata for the USGS US Topo map series is available from the US Topo Quadrangle web site (http://nationalmap.gov/ustopo/)
  Completeness_Report: Unknown
  Positional_Accuracy:
    Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report: This US Topo map product is compiled to meet National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS). NMAS horizontal accuracy requires that at least 90 percent of well-defined points tested are within 0.02 inch of the true position. In this product, the projection line, grids, and orthoimage are believed to meet NMAS. Positional accuracy of the other data layers is less controllable because of diversity of data sources, and may not meet NMAS.
    Vertical_Positional_Accuracy:
Vertical_Positional_Accuracy_Report: The accuracy of the National Elevation Dataset (NED) is inherited from the source digital elevation models (DEMs). The overall absolute vertical accuracy expressed as the root mean square error (RMSE) is 2.44 meters. The measured vertical RMSE was converted to equivalent NMAS and NSSDA expressions. The accuracy is expressed in terms of the National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS), which use a 90 percent confidence interval, and in terms of the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA), which uses a 95 percent confidence interval.
